Savage Grace at Sundance.

I received this message on Facebook. I also messaged the original author and he said he could neither confirm nor deny if the stars would be in attendance for the Sundance premiere, but he could notify me if and when he finds out. If you are a Salt Lake City resident or happen to see the movie, be sure to send a message our way with what you thought of the movie.

Come see SAVAGE GRACE with us. The US premiere of the film is Sunday, January 20, at 9:30pm at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City. The first Park City showing is Friday, January 25 at 6:15pm, on the large and splendid screen of the Eccles Theater. For those who miss the Eccles screening, there’s an additional showing the next day, Saturday January 26, at 11:30am at The Racquet.

We very much look forward to seeing you there!

Best and warmest regards,

Howard and Tom.

The Jane Austen Book Club DVD (Region 1) cover.

I uncovered the DVD cover of The Jane Austen Book Club at DVD Active, and it’s nice aside from one minor detail, it’s missing Hugh! I guess they thought Jimmy Smits would rack in more interest, but it completely gives off the wrong message. Hopefully there’ll be a big photo of Hugh on the back though. The DVD is set to be released February 5th, 2008 in both BluRay and standard form.

Beginner’s Pluck

I found this little Hugh mention at Vanity Fair. Please note that this isn’t a new Hugh role, just a mention and a compliment given the writer envisions him for one of the roles in his book! You never know what could happen at the end of the day.

Hollywood has been buzzing about Beginner’s Greek ever since advance copies became available. Replete with unforgettable characters and a captivating plot, this irresistible love story has everything it needs to transition seamlessly to the big screen. So we asked the author—a Time magazine veteran who’s found his true calling in fiction writing—what his ideal cast would look like. Here’s what he envisions:

Topher Grace as the quietly charming Peter; Keira Knightley as the enchantingly sweet Holly; Hugh Dancy as Peter’s libidinous best friend, Jonathan; Cate Blanchett (or perhaps a less sophisticated look-alike) as Peter’s tiresome fiancée, Charlotte; Jack Nicholson as Charlotte’s arrogant father, Dick; Lara Flynn Boyle as Charlotte’s spoiled stepmother, Julia; Jeff Bridges as Holly’s delightfully dissolute father, Graham; and George Clooney as Peter’s debonair boss, Arthur.

Marie Claire UK Interview.

He’s gone from TV dramas (Cold Feet, David Copperfield) to big-budget blockbusters (Black Hawk Down, King Arthur). Now Hugh Dancy, 32, stars in the romantic comedy The Jane Austen Book Club.

You’re in three movies this year – Savage Grace, Evening and The Jane Austen Book Club. What’s it like hitting the big time?

I don’t feel like that. Things have got more high profile, but I’m under no illusions. Next year could be quiet.

But aren’t you supposed to be the new Hugh Grant?

We’re English and we have the same first name. It’s as simple as that. One person said it and journalists keep perpetuating it.

Shooting Dogs director Michael Caton-Jones compared you to Leonardo DiCaprio, saying you’re both eye candy but with depth.

I’ll take that! Well, I mean, at least he knows what he’s talking about, and he’s a great director, so if he says something like that, then thank you very much. Leo’s a brilliant actor, so it’s very flattering, but you can’t really take these comparisons too seriously. I’m still trying to figure out what I can do well and what I can’t. The Jane Austen Book Club was a well-written comedy, a different area for me. I enjoyed playing a comic character more than I thought I would.

You come from a family of academics and you studied English Literature at Oxford. Shouldn’t you have a proper job?

There was never any pressure and I was always into the arts. I went to boarding school and, at 13, I was sent to theatre studies as a punishment for smoking and drinking. That formed my decision to become an actor. But I did go to uni first.

In The Jane Austen Book Club, your character, Grigg, is a sci-fi geek with a big heart. Do you share any of his character traits?

Maybe a few, but I’m not a sci-fi geek! Grigg is a good guy. He doesn’t have a dark side… I’m not Darth Vader, but Grigg’s nicer than me.

The Jane Austen Book Club DVD release date.

Hey, guys, I’m back! And I come bearing news about the Jane Austen Book Club DVD release date on both regular and BluRay disc. Read below for the details! Thanks to HiDef Digest. When I find a cover, I’ll let you guys know.

Sony will bring the chick-lit drama ‘The Jane Austen Book Club’ to Blu-ray this February, in a special edition boasting a library’s worth of supplemental features.

Despite an all-star cast including Emily Blunt, Maria Bello, Hugh Dancy, Maggie Grace and Kathy Baker, ‘The Jane Austen Book Club’ failed to make much of a dent at the fall box office, earning a meager gross of less than $5 million.

Sony will give the film another push with a February 5, 2008 bow on both Blu-ray and standard-def DVD, promising an extensive set of supplements.

Extras shared by both releases will include an audio commentary with cast & crew (exact participants TBA), four featurettes (”Behind-the-Scenes of The Jane Austen Book Club,” “The Life of Jane Austen,” “Walking the Red Carpet: Los Angeles Premiere,” “The Book Club: Deconstructed”) and deleted scenes.

Tech specs for the Blu-ray boast 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround (48kHz/24-bit) audio.

Sony has set a suggested list price of $38.95 for the Blu-ray.

As always, you’ll find disc details for ‘The Jane Austen Book Club’ linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it’s indexed under February 5, 2008.
