Dancy with wolves: Actor comes clean on role in supernatural thriller
He plays the hero in tomorrow’s werewolf thriller “Blood and Chocolate,” but actor Hugh Dancy remembers the moment while filming that his job veered into absurdity.
“It was day three, we were in a field,” Dancy told the Herald in an exclusive interview. “There I was, with a Hungarian man standing above me on a 6-foot platform, prepared to throw a fully grown wolf on my head. I thought, ‘How did I get to this point?’”
That’s easy to answer.
The Oxford grad best known for period pieces such as “Elizabeth I,” “King Arthur” and TNT’s “David Copperfield” got there “by being in the right place at the right time,” he said.
“Fairly shortly after I graduated and started working, I did ‘David Copperfield’ - the Dickens protagonist, as opposed to the guy who walks through big walls,” Dancy joked of the Las Vegas-style illusionist. “That was an opportunity in a visible role, and it was a baptism of fire.”
But timing hasn’t always been a friend to Dancy, 31.
His 2005 film “Beyond the Gate,” a fact-inspired story about Rwandan genocide, has been delayed in this country because of its similarities to the 2004 Oscar-nominated “Hotel Rwanda.”

GALLERY REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!
In case the all caps title doesn’t give it away, I’ll say it again: ALL GALLERY REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
This change will be put into place until exactly a month from today - or in other words, when Journey’s End previews end and its general run begins. From that point, I’ll leave it open for another temporary length of time and close it again. My decision to do this is primarely a security move (as well as an attempt to conserve bandwidth and organize a little).
If you’d like to register, please wait a month. Any and all comments or e-mails about it will not be responded to, barring a few personal exceptions. Please note that if you are registered member yet haven’t visited the gallery since December 1st, 2006 (which would have already given you more a week to visit as it opened November 21st), your registration may be deleted.
To those who are registered, these are the last gallery updates.
• 49 x Blood and Chocolate: Clip, “Werewolf”
• 55 x Blood and Chocolate: Clip, “What Have You Done?”
ETA: Important edit! I am still currently going through the usernames that have not been active since December 2nd. The tally has been pretty enormous so far - going to be over 100 very soon. If you feel I unjustifiably deleted your account (if your cookies are so amazing that you’ve been permanently logged in since November), please send me an e-mail asap with your past login and password.

Hugh Dancy gets interesting present.
Other crews get personalized baseball hats or signed tees for wrap gifts. Hugh Dancy got a wolf.
To explain: Hugh Dancy and Olivier Martinez had just finished shooting werewolf movie Blood and Chocolate.
The film producers, in what probably seemed like a good idea at the time, adopted a whole pack of wolves in Romania, where the movie was being filmed.
When the movie wrapped, producers gave Hugh, Olivier (shown below) and most of the rest of the cast their very own wild animal.
Because…because that probably seemed like a good idea at the time, too.
Dancy says: “It was a gift from one of the producers to each of us. He adopted a wolf on our behalf. I suppose I am now the adoptive father of a wolf. I suppose I should probably go about thinking of a name (for my wolf).”

Hugh Dancy Fights Off Ravenous Wolves On Film Set.
British actor Hugh Dancy put his life in the hands of a Romanian wolf trainer while shooting new movie Blood & Chocolate in Bucharest - because he was at the mercy of hungry beasts during some hair-raising scenes.
The young actor plays a comic book writer on the run from werewolves in the new movie, and literally had to be thrown to real-life wolves for many of his scenes.
He explains, “I had them thrown at my head and I wrestled with them. Basically, the way these wolves are persuaded to put in a good day’s work is they come in the morning pretty hungry and then somebody puts pieces of steak about the person, that’s me, and they set the wolves on you.
“There are certain wolf guards in place, but it was up close and personal.
“They’d put the steaks on my shoulders. It’s really weird. There’s a man standing on a platform about to throw a wolf at you from behind the camera across the room, and you’re basically thinking, ‘I mustn’t let this steak fall off my shoulder.’
“You wouldn’t think it would be a worry balancing the little appetiser on your shoulder but it is.”
But Dancy admits he spent hours with the wolves before the attack scenes, and felt completely safe when it came time to wrestle them.
He adds, “I didn’t feel any danger except for the instinctive irrational fear of a very powerful animal that could tear you to pieces.”

B&C movie clip caps and…tabloid!
So I have screencaps from two clips from B&C, one set of caps that isn’t so bad and another that’s just a piece of crap. If Katja and her gang could actually get a better quality version of their clips for screencaps, it would be much appreciated! There are currently two that feature Hugh, one at Yahoo! (”All in the Eyes”) and MovieWeb (”Why Do You Always…”). I mostly capped for posterity. There’s also the InTouch scan from Sammie. Keep in mind that it’s a photo manipulation, not even a good one at that! Just think, if they’d waited 2 days or so, they could have gotten a real photo.
Completely off topic, welcome Lily to the world! She’s my new neice, 6 lb. 15 ounces. Haven’t seen her yet, but I’m sure she’s gorgeous. :]
