LONDON — U.K. shingle NDF Intl. has announced a diverse slate of pics on offer for pre-sales at Cannes, including Brit train thriller “Last Passenger.”
The pic, starring Hugh Dancy and backed by the U.K. Film Council, marks the debut feature for director Omid Nooshin. Story follows an overworked doctor trapped on a runaway train leaving London during the Christmas holidays and is set to shoot in September.
Script — which made the Brit List, a list of the most liked and recommended unproduced scripts in the U.K. and Ireland — was penned by Nooshin and Andy Love. The $5.4 million (£3.5 million) pic has sparked interest from Peter Jackson and Richard Taylor’s New Zealand-based special effects co Weta Workshop, who have agreed to work on the pic’s SFX.
NDF’s Zack Winfield and Ado Yoshizaki will produce and CEO Michiyo Yoshizaki (“The Crying Game”) will exec produce with Future Films.
Thanks to Mamie Gummer Online for the heads-up on this. Looks like Coach will be a straight-to-DVD release. Don’t know about an international release yet, but you can pre-order the DVD now for a June 8th drop date through Amazon. What a waste of good talent.
WOW! Hugh is up for a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for his performance in The Pride. The play, itself, is also nominated for SIX awards at the award ceremony, which are set to be handed out on May 2. Nominations include:
- Outstanding Director: Joe Mantello
- Outstanding Lead Actor: Hugh Dancy
- Outstanding Featured Actor: Adam James
- Outstanding Featured Actress: Andrea Riseborough
- Outstanding Scenic Design: David Zinn
- Outstanding Lighting Design: Paul Gallo
A full list of nominations are located at Playbill.com. We only wish Ben Whishaw could have garnered a nomination, as he was just as exceptional in the play as Hugh.
